In 2007, a group of concerned Jersey City residents got together with open space in mind. We formed the Jersey City Waterfront Parks Conservancy. Our mission is to restore, enhance, protect, and preserve open spaces on Jersey City's waterfront to improve the quality of life for current and future generations. Our goal is to connect the disparate parcels of waterfront park land to create one large contiguous park for the community. From this the "Connect the Parks" initiative was born. The focus of the initiative is to generate a park design based on community's input and take the necessary steps to ultimately develop the park. The conservancy will have no direct involvement in the design itself. The design and elements in the park will be solely based on the interests and desires of the community.

Connect the Parks Status:

In the fall of 2007 we prepared and distributed a Request for Proposal (RFP) to fourteen world class landscape design firms. In December of 2007 we met with a number of firms interested in the project and conducted several site tours to acquaint them with both the land and the community. After interviewing 5 firms, we ultimately selected StarrWhitehouse Landscape Architects with NArchitects who is currently developing a Conceptual Master Plan. Please join us on March 24th to see the plans.
